Pinhão is a Portuguese village and parish, with 3.00 km² of area and 648 inhabitants (2011). Its population density is 216 inhabitants / km².
The village is located on the north bank of the Douro River, being the center of the demarcated region of Port Wine and the place where several farms producing generous wine are located.
The Pinhão landscape is classified by UNESCO as a cultural heritage of humanity.
The Pinhão railway station is known for its 24 tile panels, which depict landscapes of the Douro and aspects of the vintage. In shades of blue, the tiles were designed by J. Oliveira and were ordered from the factory Aleluia, in Aveiro, in 1937.
This village enjoys a privileged location on the right bank of the Douro River. Pinhão is the center of the demarcated Port Wine region and the place where the most famous "Quintas" producing Port wine are located. The village of Pinhão receives around 400 thousand tourists per year.
